The Information Centre Sustainable Shortsea Shipping (Duurzaam Schip) has become a member of the Consortium Shore Support. Duurzaam Schip will contribute as Information and Knowledge Centre by executing research for the project Shore Support. Duurzaam Schip coordinates projects conducted by students of the studies Bachelor of Maritime Operations in the field of innovative sustainable developments on board seagoing vessels.
The information centre receives its project assignments by shipowners, maritime suppliers and governmental organisations. The projects are executed by students of De Ruyter Maritime Institute in Vlissingen and supervised by a dedicated teacher. This Information Centre Duurzaam Schip is an initiative of the Royal Association of Dutch Shipowners, the Association Holland Marine Equipment and De Ruyter Maritime Institute, who dedicate themselves to a sustainable and healthy maritime industry.
For the project Shore Support, four students of De Ruyter Maritime Institute in Vlissingen are going to research what systems on board seagoing vessel can be (partly) supported from the shore and which developments exist in these fields.
